Mobility Metrics is an open-source software package for ingesting Mobility Data Specification (MDS) data feeds and aggregating the data in such a way that it is useful for analysis while protecting privacy.

To assist agencies with meeting the MAP-21 regulations, the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) provides free access to the National Performance Management Research Data Set (NPRMDS), a national database of probe-vehicle-based speed and travel time data. The NPMRDS offers a new opportunity to monitor and report work zone performance measures.

The North American Transborder Database contains freight flow data by commodity type and mode of transport including rail, truck, pipeline, air, and vessel for U.S. trade with Mexico and Canada. The database includes two sets of tables: commodity-based and geography-based. The information is used to monitor freight flows since the enactment of NAFTA (now CUSMA) in 1994.

These are public dashboards and data sets available on the internet from various public agencies, to provide a sample of the types of information and visualizations that are used.

The SharedStreets Referencing System is a non-proprietary system for describing streets and locations to allow porting of data between differing basemaps, such as a commercial GIS, a city-managed GIS, and OpenStreetMap.

Smart City PDX, the smart city project for Portland, OR, is partnering with the community to make Portland a place where data and technology are used to improve people’s lives, particularly in underserved communities.

Columbus, Ohio, the winner of the USDOT Smart City Challenge, was designated as America's Smart City. The Smart Columbus project funded the development of a range of smart city projects – from self-driving shuttles to prenatal trip assistance to a multimodal trip planning application – that demonstrate the value of data in a smart city environment.

The KM4City project released another addition to its ecosystem called SNAP4City. SNAP4City, which stands for “scalable Smart aNalytic APplication builder for sentient Cities and IOT,” is built on top of KM4City and provides a flexible method and solution to quickly create a large range of smart city applications. It exploits heterogeneous data and enables services for stakeholders by IoT/IoE (Internet of Everything), data analytics, and big data technologies.

The StreetLight InSight® platform is a subscription-based, software-as-a-service (SaaS) platform that relies on Cuebiq LBS, INRIX GPS, and other contextual data to product on-demand analyses.
